Lesson Structure
Private and Shared LessonsPrivate Lessons
Most students learn in a private lesson, but it is possible to share your lesson with a family member, cousin or friend. Level 1 consists of 10 pieces that cover classics, blues, accompaniment and ballads.
The pieces are broken down into smaller sections, and sometimes processed away from the piano first. Whilst learning the pieces, you will also be learning many ‘tools’ that you will use to help you learn other songs. Level 1 takes approximately 10 -20 lessons to complete depending on the age of and commitment of the student.
For students under age 15, a parent needs to be present at the lesson and is strongly encouraged to learn at least the 10 level 1 pieces. This helps the parent understand how the method works, what it feels like to be a student and be able to help their child with practice at home. It also creates a great bonding experience. There are not many music lessons out there, where the parent can learn alongside their child.
Weekly lessons are conducted during the school term on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday afternoons until early evening, as well as Wednesday and Thursday mornings (placements subject to availability).
